Impact MO is a coalition dedicated to empowering students and their families by connecting them with essential community services. Throughout the school year, Impact MO hosts monthly events where families can meet directly with service providers to address a variety of needs including utilities, food, employment, healthcare, and more. Our streamlined approach ensures families have quick access to the support they need all in one location, reducing wait times and enhancing their experience.

Our History

  • June 30th, 2017: Initial meeting to discuss viability of starting the coalition.

  • May 8th, 2018: Pilot held at Richardson Head Start.

  • September 11th, 2018: First official Impact MO event at the Linwood YMCA.

  • April 1st, 2023: School Smart KC became the temporary backbone agency of Impact MO.

  • May 2nd, 2023: An Impact MO Coordinator joined our team.

  • July 1st, 2024: Avenue of Life became the permanent backbone agency of Impact MO.

How Impact MO Works:

  • To be eligible for our services, a family must have an Impact MO Coach (such as a case worker, school social worker, or case manager) from an Impact MO Partner Agency.

  • Once a family verifies that their school or agency is an Impact MO Partner, they can request a referral from their Impact MO Coach. Coaches submit referrals on a monthly basis to ensure families are signed up to attend the upcoming Impact MO Event.

  • Upon arriving at the Impact MO Event, families are guided by their coach who ensures they meet with the appropriate service providers. Impact MO events are designed to minimize wait times, provide direct access to local service representatives, and embody the approach of wraparound services.

Partner Roles

Impact MO offers two key support roles to assist families: Coaches & Providers

  • An “Impact MO Coach” refers to staff from local schools, early childhood centers, and social service agencies who provide ongoing support to Impact MO families. Services and support begin after coaches refer families to Impact MO.

  • An Impact MO "Provider” is a representative from local social service agencies providing services and support to families. Services provided by providers include the following domains: housing, utilities, food, income, safety, employment, child care, education for adults and children, mental health, legal assistance, and parenting skills.

Impact MO Event Schedule

Impact MO events are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from September - May in the morning. Families must be referred by an Impact MO Coach to attend an event. To connect with an Impact MO Coach, please contact one of the Coaching Agencies.
